Join Kyla and Kara for a lunch time meditation online every money starting January 9. These will be offered FREE or by-donation. After you register you will be sent a form that tells us what you want your invoice to say. SEPTEMBER
Rise Up: Rise Up is a support group for people with PTSD. The group will include discussions about evidence-based strategies that are focused on gaining insight and building resilience in our individual lives. Weekly topics include becoming mindful, emotion regulation, healthy coping skills, practicing new skills, new resources and the roles that different modalities of wellness can take in the PTSD journey.
This is a safe space for people to feel heard and understood.

OCTOBER
Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT): The purpose of this 8 week group is to introduce the practice of mindfulness and to encourage the creative exploration of these concepts individually and collectively. Mindfulness can have a powerful impact on how people think, feel, act, relate, perform and collaborate at work. Participants will participate in weekly mindfulness practices during therapy and are encouraged to explore in a home practice. The principles of Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) will be used to guide the practice, review supports used in the development of being present, and focus on what is happening moment to moment.

Mini Mindfulness Retreat: Join us on at our Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy Mini Retreat. Neurodiverse Parenting and Child Group: This fall, VK Wellness in hosting a new program to support parents of a child who is neurodiverse. This includes children who are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, FASD, and other brain-based differences that require different approaches to parenting and other aspects of family life. This group is a support group giving parents a chance to connect and understand their personal experiences better. Each week features a different topic that will be discussed. During the group, facilitators will learn more about the strengths & needs of the families in our community and their children who are neurodiverse, adapting the program as needed. During these sessions parents and children/youth will have a chance to plan for a winter group that will be more focused on skill development and parenting education and training.

Each week will feature fun activities for your child or youth to participate in at the same time as your group but in a different room. This will be a chance for them to connect with each other while learning and practicing social skills and emotional regulation.

JANUARY
Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)

MBCT is an 8 week mindfulness based group program that supports overall wellbeing by using mindfulness practices and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) strategies. It is helpful for stress and burnout, as well as clinical experiences like depression, anxiety, and chronic pain. Once you have registered, you will receive an invoice for the total cost of the program. Once you pay, your space is secured in the program. The cost of this program may be covered by your extended benefits, FNHA, ICBC, and other funding sources. We can also offer this program on a sliding scale for those who would benefit from attending, but do not have the budget for it at this time. You can also pay in increments throughout the length of the 8 weeks. Inquire with us how we can make this work for you.

Yoga & Wellness Strategies for People experiencing high levels of stress, PTSD or healing from trauma

Description: This 6-week small group offers individuals the opportunity to find peaceful moments during an hour of guided yoga practice. Through experiencing breathing techniques, relaxation, mindfulness practices and gentle yoga movements an awareness of what’s going on in your body is brought forward. This is a safe, non-judgemental space for rediscovering the path towards wellness and healing. Sessions will include an opportunity to understand how our daily stressors, PTSD or trauma can affect how we interpret ourselves, our environments and how we can strive for wellness.

Calm & Cool Mindful Bead Bracelet Workshop
This program teaches children to connect to their calm and cool emotions through the use of their own stone bead bracelet. In the first class, children will create their own bracelet and participate in a guided practice using it to bring them calm when they are feeling stressed. The second class will be a time to share about using the bracelet and practice a variety of calming strategies to help with anxiety and stress. The beads are included in this program.

Honour and renew your mind and body. A nourishing, restorative class to encourage balance and ease by calming the nervous system.
