Do you ever wonder where you truly belong or if there’s a place where you can feel completely understood and happy? The answer lies within you. Sometimes, the thoughts, strategies, and defenses we create to protect ourselves in vulnerable moments can become toxic for us over time and we try to run away. Neil Gaiman wisely observed, “Wherever you go, you take yourself with you.” This suggests that our answers and treasures are internal. Sometimes to get access to those treasures we need to face unpleasant memories and feelings. These shadows appears only where the light shines. Our bodies and curious minds may challenge our enjoyment of the present moment each day. Like children challenging their parents to make sure they are safe, loved and taken care of. We have the ability to become compassionate and nurturing caregivers to ourselves as well and let us be the way we are.
In my practice, I primarily use a psychodynamic approach. I guide my clients to break free from self-sabotaging behaviors, fostering greater confidence, improved relationships, and a more fulfilling life. Together, we will delve into early life experiences and relationships to uncover the root causes of your current struggles. I also use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and explore core beliefs, adopt new perspectives, and encourage more constructive actions. Throughout our sessions, you can expect to gain a deeper understanding of your reactions and thought patterns. Change isn’t always necessary; sometimes, acknowledgment and respect for your thoughts and feelings are the keys. Many of my clients find themselves less anxious and reactive in their interactions with family and friends.
