The customized PATH Program is designed to meet the unique needs of each fire department. This comprehensive, systemic approach supports both the physical and mental resilience of firefighters, helping maintain the overall health and wellness of those who serve our communities-and their families.

Occupational Stress Resiliency (OSR) Check-In
FOR ALL MEMBERS
His one-hour check-in is part of your occupational stress injury (OSI) prevention plan. It includes:
- A pre-screening tool to assess risk factors and resilience
- A confidential check-in with a trained clinical case manager to review your results and discuss any health-related needs-for you or your family
- An OSI support plan for the year ahead
- Personalized resource and referral recommendations
VK Wellness in Leadership (WIL) Program
FOR CAPTAINS
The WIL Program is a confidential, individualized leadership development service available to fire department leadership. This program supports captains and chiefs in fostering team wellness and effective leadership through:
- Informal assessment of current leadership experience
- Exploration of group and individual wellness needs
- Goal-setting for leadership, team, and personal development
- Strategic planning to achieve defined outcomes
- Accountability structures to support follow-through
- Ongoing collaboration and consultation with a clinical specialist throughout the process
NEW Orientation in 2025
Occupational Stress Resiliency (OSR) Orientation FOR NEW MEMBERS
If you’ve joined in the last 6 months, we recommend starting with this 2-hour OSR Orientation. This proactive session helps you understand how to protect yourself from occupational stress-related injuries (OSI) as a firefighter or first responder. Recommended by Health and Safety qRD, this orientation includes:
- An introduction to OSR and OSI risk factors
- A personal assessment and plan for healthy, sustainable involvement as a volunteer firefighter/first responder
- A connection with a VK Wellness OSR Clinician for ongoing prevention and support
Firefighter Wellness Survey
You are being asked to participate in a short survey that will help you employer understand your overall individual wellness experience.
What to expect from the survey:
- The survey is anonymous
- You do not have to answer any questions you do not feel comfortable responding too
- The survey takes between 5 and 15 minutes to complete
- There are questions related to your current life experience (age, dependants, employment status), questions about your expereince as a firefighter, questions about current health and wellness supports, and questions related to your whole wellness experience covering 12 areas of wellness
- A report will be created for your employer summarizing the findings and making recommendations related to supports and services for your group
- A summary of this report will be made available for all members of the qathet Fire Service and provided to the chiefs to share.
